Costa Victoria (1996 – 2020) Costa Cruises

Costa Victoria was the first of two Victoria-class cruise ships ordered by Costa Cruises from the German shipyard Bremer Vulkan (her sister was intended to become Costa Olympia, but was completed as Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sky instead). She sailed for Costa Cruises (owned by Carnival Corporation & plc) from 1996 until 2020. When built her interiors were designed with the spirit of Italy in mind, but this did not really succeed until her 2013 refit. During her service with Costa she was used to open up the Asian market. When due to the COVID-19 pandemic Carnival decided to sell off their older and less efficient tonnage, she was the first to go. She was quickly sold for possible conversion to worker’s accommodation at a Genoa shipyard, but her new owners had a change of mind and she was sold for demolition in Turkey. She arrived at the breakers yard in January 2021.
