Oceanic was delivered to Home Lines in March 1965. She made a short series of transatlantic crossings and then switched to cruise service from New York to the Bahamas during summers and longer cruises to the Caribbean during the winter. Oceanic was a very successful cruise ship at the time, operating most of the time at 95% capacity. To be replaced by their new Homeric in 1986, she was sold to Premier Cruises in 1985. She was renamed Starship Oceanic and later Big Red Boat I. Premier went bankrupt in 2000 and she was acquired by Pullmantur. She reverted to her original name of Oceanic and sailed in the Mediterranean until she was sold to Japanese Peace Boat in 2009 for who she made cultural world cruises until 2012 when she was sold for scrap.
